Stepping away from the oft beaten path of huge cities and large automobile factories, there are many other things to do, places to visit and events to enjoy in this great land. Some of the main attractions of Germany are the historic cities, beautiful farming villages that serve up the heartiest of meals and the colossal gothic cathedrals that dot the landscape of Germany.

Most people conceive Germany as the land where everyone drives a Mercedes and races along the autobahns that connect the cities of Berlin Stuttgart etc. This is however very far from the truth. Germany is in fact a country that celebrates the fun side of life and throughout the year the people are celebrating some event in Germany. If it is the world’s largest beer festival the Oktoberfest in the last week of September, during April it is the Walpurgis Night when people dress up like witches and wizards and await the arrival of spring. Easter is a festival that is celebrated with great fervor in Germany and if one is planning a holiday at this time of the year then they can also participate in the many Museum walks, Bavarian ballets and sumptuous food all along the weekend. Treks in the Black forest and the long and winding Rhine tours are the other attractions that one can participate in.

Germany is a land of fantastic architectural wonders. It is country that is home to some of the most influential architectural movements in the world. The uniqueness of this country’s architecture is best exemplified in its many gothic cathedrals and monuments. For a nation that is so monument centric, there are some hotels in Germany that would quiet literally take one’s breathe away. The Igloo Village in Zugspitze is one of the most popular attractions in Germany along with the Tree House hotel in Goerlitz.   Both these German accommodations are very unique and leave an indelible mark in any tourists mind.

While it is true that the rural and natural wonders of Germany are a traveler’s delight, Germany’s cities are a revelation of how hard work and determination can rebuild a nation that was torn apart in the middle of the 20th century. Not only have the Germans shown the world that determination to succeed can be the pathway to economic and social glory, they have rebuilt their ravaged land with a fervor that is greatly commendable. Cities like Frankfurt – which is home to the largest airport in Germany- and Munich and Dusseldorf, are the best examples of the spirit of the people.
